Works councils & unions

With works councils and unions
From day 1

OREY runs the interviews as an independent third party. Named or anonymous participation is agreed before invitations go out. Works councils help shape the questions and reporting rules from the start

Independent third party

OREY sits between the workforce and management

named or anonymous agreed release rules anonymous: grouped only independent third partyOREY Employees Management

01 · Employees

Employees speak in their own words

People speak at their own pace and in their own language. Before taking part, they know whether the study is named or anonymous and how their answers will be reported

02 · Management

Management sees the patterns employees describe

The report brings together what people described, with supporting passages grouped by site and theme

03 · OREY

OREY sits in between, independently

OREY applies the participation mode agreed before launch. For anonymous studies, findings are released only for groups that meet the minimum size set by the client

The process

3 steps before the first invitation

  1. 01

    Agree together

    • Choose named or anonymous
    • Set the minimum group size
    • Explain how answers are shared
  2. 02

    Try it first

    • Council members try it themselves
    • The report format is agreed
    • Questions written together
  3. 03

    Invite together

    • A joint invitation carries weight
    • Agree how findings will be shared
    • The council gains new evidence

What OREY guarantees as a third party

Protection that's enforced in the software

The client chooses the mode before launch. In anonymous studies, management receives grouped findings only when the configured minimum group size is met

Named or anonymous participation is agreed before launch and explained to participants

Findings from groups below the agreed minimum size are withheld

OREY analyses what people say, without recognising emotions from their tone of voice

Escalating a concern requires the participant’s consent

Storage, deletion and providers are agreed before launch

Questions works councils ask

Does the works council have to agree to OREY?

In Germany, introducing technical systems that could monitor employee behaviour or performance usually requires works council co-determination (§ 87(1) no. 6 BetrVG). So we plan a works agreement from the start and bring a template. Austria has comparable rules under its Labour Constitution Act

Can the employer trace a statement back to one person?

In anonymous mode, released findings do not attribute answers to individuals, and groups below the configured minimum size are withheld. Named participation is a separate option agreed before launch and explained before anyone takes part

Who sets the minimum group size?

The client sets the minimum group size before launch for anonymous studies, involving the works council or employee representatives in agreeing the rules before invitations go out. Findings are released only for groups that meet that minimum

Can the works council test the interview first?

Yes. Council members take the interview themselves before the workforce is invited. The report format is shared upfront, and questions and themes are written together

Does OREY analyse mood, tone of voice or emotions?

No. OREY analyses what people say, never tone of voice, and never scores individuals

What happens if someone raises a serious concern?

A serious concern is passed on only with that person's explicit agreement. Without it, nothing leaves the conversation

How long does it take to agree with employee representatives?

It depends on the country. About 1 to 2 weeks in Switzerland, 3 to 6 weeks in Germany and Austria, and 4 to 8 weeks in Italy
